Remember when your mum used to say 'put on your shoes' and 'don't walk barefoot on the tiles because you'll catch a cold', well there is actually some truth to that. In Chinese Medicine, Winter time corresponds to the Kidneys. And the first point of the Kidney channel starts under the ball of the feet and when 'cold' enters the channel, it can lower our energy and affect our immune function, causing a range of complaints from frequent urination, to sore lower back and knees and of course colds and flu. So by simply covering our feet with socks, uggs or whatever else, we can help prevent the 'cold' getting in. Another easy method is to keep the lower back covered when it's cold, to keep the kidneys warm. And there is also the back of the neck where the 'cold' can enter, so be sure to keep it covered.
Unfortunately we cant always avoid getting ill, so when we feel like we might be on the verge of getting a cold or the flu, this is the time when we need to act to help reduce the length and severity that we do get sick. For more information, please refer to the Contact page. |

LUNAR NEW YEAR - Year of the Fire Horse
The Lunar New Year in 2026 welcomes the Year of the Horse, according to the Chinese lunar calendar, this is a time for cultural traditions, family reunions, and hopes for good fortune in the coming year.
In 2026, Lunar New Year falls on February 17th, kicking off the 16-day Spring Festival (based on Northern Hemisphere seasons).
As we leave behind the cautious, introspective and intuitive Year of the Snake, the Year of the Horse gallops in with vibrant and fiery energy, symbolizing adventure, vitality, enthusiasm and momentum, bringing a year focused on bold moves and exploration.
The last few months can feel as if we've been stuck in old emotional patterns with hurts and worries feeling like they are re-emerging from the past.
Take comfort in knowing this is part of the transition from Snake year to Horse year, from letting go of what no longer serves us to moving forward with new ideas, new innovations and a new outlook both in your personal and professional life.
Also in numerology we've moved from a 9 year (2025) to a 1 year (2026), with 9 being the completion of a cycle and 1 being the start of a new cycle.
A 9 year (obtained by adding the individual numbers together - 2+0+2+5) represents resolving anything left unfinished and letting go of what doesn't resonate with you anymore. This can be a time of emotional upheaval as we have familiarity with what we know and sometimes moving in a new direction or letting go of the familiar can stir up feelings of fear or anger as we move into new unfamiliar territory.
A 1 year can signify leadership, self-expression, independence and creativity, which along with the Fire Horse can be a great time for beginning a new project, or moving in a new direction.
